Mercedes and the Waning Moon has been officially confirmed as a TV anime and is scheduled to air in January 2027. This adaptation of the light novel by Fire Head has also unveiled its first promotional video, teaser visuals, main cast, and key staff.
The Story of Mercedes and the Waning Moon
Mercedes and the Waning Moon follows Mercedes Grunewald, a girl who has been reincarnated as an aristocratic vampire. She was born to an aristocratic father and a mother who was a concubine with little standing within the family.
From a young age, Mercedes had realized that she would likely not be chosen as the heir. If her father chose another heir, the future of Mercedes, her mother, and their elderly servant would become uncertain.
To survive, Mercedes began training and chose dungeon crawling as her way out. Anyone could do that job, even a small child, and Mercedes had great potential because she was born a vampire.
In her previous life, Mercedes died feeling unfulfilled. In her new life, she strives to take control of her own destiny and find a way to support her family.

Kunihisa Sugishima is known for his work on Strike Witches, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Beyblade: Metal Fury. Jun Kumagai previously worked on Persona 4 the Golden Animation, Teppen—!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Laughing ’til you Cry, and Aquarion Logos.
Nami Shoyama previously served as animation director for Buddy Daddies, Yu-Gi-Oh! Go Rush!!, and Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens. As for the music, R.O.N and Shuhei Mutsuki will be composing the score for this anime.

Mercedes and the Waning Moon: The Dungeon-Crawling Adventures of a Cast-Out Vampire Aristocrat (Kaketa Tsuki no Mercedes: I Was Reincarnated as a Vampire Aristocrat, but Since I Was Cast Out, I’m Conquering Dungeons) was first launched by Fire Head on Shosetsuka ni Naro in 2018. TO Books then began publishing the light novel version, illustrated by KeG, in 2021.
The English version of this light novel is published digitally by J-Novel Club. The series also has a manga adaptation by Pochi Edoya that began serialization in 2021 in Comic Corona, now known as Corona EX.
TO Books released the fifth volume of the light novel digitally on Wednesday. On the same day, the sixth volume of the manga was also published.
