Shueisha has officially launched MANGA MILLION, a digital manga reading platform that can be accessed for free without registration. The service will be available starting August 6, 2026, as part of Shueisha’s 100th-anniversary celebration, and as its name suggests, the platform features one million pages of manga translated into more than 100 languages.
From Popular Manga to Titles That Have Just Received Official Translations
At launch, MANGA MILLION features approximately 400 manga titles. Some of the big-name titles available to read right away include ONE PIECE, Naruto, Bleach, Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kingdom, [Oshi No Ko], SPY×FAMILY, and Chainsaw Man. Shojo titles such as Nana and Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You are also on the list.
Interestingly, nearly 300 of these titles are receiving official translations for the first time, and 50 of them are even available in multiple languages at once. The range of supported languages is quite extensive, ranging from English, Mandarin, Hindi, Arabic, Spanish, and French to Turkish, Tagalog, Korean, Polish, and Indonesian.
More than 150 titles are available in the shojo manga genre, which has long had a large readership but not all of which have received official translations.
A Cross-Divisional Project to Reach a Global Audience
According to Shueisha, MANGA MILLION was developed through a collaboration across all of the company’s divisions, covering the shonen, shojo, and seinen genres, as well as other genres beyond those. The project also involves support from international licensing partners for large-scale translation efforts, which Shueisha says makes it one of the largest initiatives in the company’s history.
Hideaki Hayashi, President and CEO of Shueisha, linked this launch to the publisher’s responsibility to bridge the gap between creators’ works and readers around the world, while also opening up opportunities for the next generation of manga creators.
Meanwhile, Shuhei Hosono, Editor-in-Chief of MANGA Plus by SHUEISHA and the initiator of this project, said that MANGA MILLION was born from a simple question: what if Shueisha’s 100th anniversary were celebrated by translating one million pages of manga into 100 languages? According to him, this project is also a way to overcome the language barrier that has long made it difficult for many readers outside Japan to access manga through official channels.
