Arc Games and Magic Design Studios have announced a new game titled NAUTUS. Magic Design Studios is best known for Have a Nice Death and Unruly Heroes. NAUTUS will launch in Early Access for PC via Steam in 2027.
A Comfortable Surface, a Dangerous Seabed
NAUTUS invites players to explore a mysterious underwater world. The surface serves as a safe haven to rest. The ocean floor is a different realm—one that’s far more dangerous. Players will explore the ocean depths, encounter strange creatures, gather resources, and search for mysterious artifacts. The main goal is to uncover the fate of the N.A.U.T.U.S. research team.
The game’s story also centers on the search for a man named Bernard Torpedo, the main character’s uncle, who has mysteriously disappeared. Players will investigate ancient relics and hidden clues in the depths of the ocean to uncover the truth behind his uncle’s disappearance.
Upgradable Submarines
One of NAUTUS’s key features is a customizable personal submarine. Players can create custom modules, protective gear, and weapons for their submarines. These technological upgrades allow players to dive deeper into dangerous trenches. Stronger submarines are also needed to face aggressive mutant sea creatures.
In addition to underwater exploration, players will also build and develop a base on a remote tropical island. This base can be equipped with production machines to process rare materials obtained during expeditions. Strategic resource management is a key part of the gameplay.
Meet the Island’s Unique Residents
NAUTUS also features a number of island residents with unique personalities. Some examples include a diver obsessed with sunbathing and an eccentric expedition leader. These islanders suffer from amnesia and strange phobias related to the ocean. Players can collaborate with them on various projects while collecting artifacts to cure their phobias.
Can Be Played Solo or With Three Friends
NAUTUS supports both single-player and online cooperative modes. In cooperative mode, up to four players can explore the ocean together. This feature allows players to enjoy even more exciting underwater adventures with friends.
With its unique concept that combines underwater exploration, base management, and teamwork, NAUTUS has the potential to be one of the most anticipated indie games of 2027.
