Every year, Pokemon Day is a special moment for Trainers to celebrate the franchise's long journey. The year 2025 marks 29 years since the first game was released in Japan, and the Pokemon Company has some big announcements in store for fans around the world.
These announcements included new game developments, major updates to existing games, and exclusive content in the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG). Here is all the information announced in celebration of Pokemon Day February 2025.
Pokemon Champions is in Development
Games: Nintendo Switch, Mobile
Pokemon Company confirmed that Pokemon Champions is in development for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. The game features classic turn-based battles, similar to Pokemon Stadium.
Mega Evolutions and Tera Pokemon were seen battling in a single arena, something never seen before in the series. This game is expected to bring a new format to competitive Pokemon tournaments.
Pokemon Z-A Big Update, Releasing in Fall 2025
Game: Nintendo Switch
After being announced earlier, Pokemon Z-A finally gets more details in the latest trailer. The video features Lumiose City, the central city in Kalos Region, as the main location in the game.
The starter pokemon available in this game are Chikorita, Totodile and Tepig. AZ and Eternal Flower Floette also appear as the owners of the hotel where players will stay.
This game introduces Wild Zones, which are areas within the city limits where wild pokemon can be found. In addition, the real-time battle system of Pokemon Legends: Arceus has been expanded with distance and area of effect mechanics that affect combat strategies.
Pokemon Z-A is scheduled for release in Fall 2025.
Pokemon TCG Pocket: Triumphant Light Booster Pack Coming Soon
Trading Card Game: Digital (Mobile)
A Triumphant Light-themed booster pack will soon be released in Pokemon TCG Pocket. This set features Arceus ex as the main card, alongside pokemon with Link Abilities such as Tyranitar, Abomasnow, and Raichu.
This booster pack will be available from February 28, 2025.
Mega Evolutions Return in Pokemon TCG
Trading Card Game: Physical
Pokemon TCG will release a new card set that brings back Mega Evolutions. From the teaser released, the two pokemon that take center stage in this set are Mega Lucario and Mega Gardevoir F.
Pokemon Sleep Event: Cresselia vs. Darkrai
Games: Mobile (Android & iOS)
Pokemon Sleep will be holding a Cresselia vs. Darkrai themed event. The announcement video features a battle between the two pokemon in the night sky.
There is no further information on the mechanics of the event or its exact date.
Pokemon UNITE
Games: MOBA (Nintendo Switch, Mobile)
Three new pokemon will join Pokemon UNITE:
- Suicune - Available at March 1, 2025
- Alolan Raichu - Available at April 2025
- Alcremie - Will be released by the end of the year

Pokemon GO Tour: Unova - Global, March 1-2, 2025

As part of the mobile game Pokemon GOThe Pokemon GO Tour: Unova - Global will take place on March 1-2, 2025, with several key features:
- Black Kyurem and White Kyurem will be the main Raid Bosses in high-level battles.
- Players can find Victini and Shiny Meleotta in the wild.
- This event also marks the start of a new season in Pokemon GO, which will run from March 4 to June 3, 2025.
Pokemon Masters EX Celebrates 5.5 Year Celebration

Two new master sync pairs announced for Pokemon Masters EX:
- May (Champion) & Shiny Primal Kyogre
- Brendan (Champion) & Shiny Primal Groudon
As part of the 5.5 Year Celebration, logged-in players will receive a special reward of 3,000 gems.
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet

Celebration Pokemon Day started at Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet with various in-game events.
- Players can claim the Mystery Gift using the password announced in the Pokemon Presents to get a special Rotom Phone Case.
- Mass Outbreaks will feature red, green, and blue colored Pokemon, with a greater chance of finding Shiny Pokemon.
- A series of Tera Raid Battles will take place, featuring Meowscarada, Skeledirge, and Quaquaval as strong opponents that players can challenge.
Pokemon Café ReMix Presents a New Apple-Based Menu
Game: Puzzle (Nintendo Switch, Mobile)
Game Pokemon Café ReMix presents a new apple-themed menu called Appletun Fruitilicious Jelly Soda.
In addition, on February 28, 2025, a special event will allow players to choose Flapple or Appletun as the new staff at the cafe.
Some other updates in the game include:
- Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly will be available in special outfit packs.
- Players who log in will get a Pikachu with a Sweets outfit.
- If players log in for three days, they will also get an Eevee with a Sweets outfit.
New Pokemon Concierge Coming Soon to Netflix
Stop-motion series
Netflix announced that the animated series Pokemon Concierge will get a new episode that will air in September 2025.
For those who want to watch the previous episodes, the first four episodes will be available on Pokemon's official YouTube channel from February 21 to March 9, 2025.
The series follows the story of Haru, a concierge at a tropical pokemon resort, who goes about his daily life with his partner, Psyduck.
