A great opportunity is back for short animation creators in Indonesia. This year, 27th DigiCon6 ASIA - Asia's Short Movie Contest opened registration for the Indonesian region. The competition is one of the prestigious annual events in the Asian region that brings together short animated works from various countries on one international award stage.

Indonesia is participating again through a selection organized by The Japan Foundation, Jakarta. For those of you who have original short animation works, this is the right time to show your work to a wider stage.

What is DigiCon6 ASIA?

Digicon6 ASIA is an Asian animated short film competition organized annually by Tokyo Broadcasting System Holdings, Inc. (TBS). The main objective of the event is to recognize original works that display high quality and expression. It also encourages the growth of the digital content market in Asia and supports creators to expand their work internationally.

Selected finalists from each country will be invited to the main competition in Japan, and have the opportunity to attend the Awarding Ceremony which will be held in October 2025. Winners will be announced live on the night of the awards and publicized through the official channels of DigiCon6 and The Japan Foundation, Jakarta.

Digicon6 ASIA Regional Indonesia Registration Requirements

Registration for 27th DigiCon6 ASIA - Asia's Short Movie Contest Indonesia regional has officially opened. If you're an animator or short film creator from Indonesia, this is the perfect time to enter.

For those of you who are interested in joining this competition, here are the important points regarding registration Digicon6 ASIA for the Indonesian region:

  • Participants are Indonesian citizens
  • Minimum age 18 years old
  • Registration is open for individuals and teams
  • Entries must be animated short films made and produced in Indonesia.
  • Production year starts from 2023
  • Animation genres, types, styles, and themes are free, including 2D, 3D, stop motion, clay animation, and more.
  • The maximum duration of the work is 15 minutes, including credit title
  • Works must be original and not contain elements of plagiarism.

It's worth noting that works that have already been screened at other festivals can still be entered. As long as you're the copyright holder, and all the elements in it-including the soundtrack and quotes-don't infringe on intellectual property rights. In fact, if you add English captions, it can be a plus when judging.

Selection Process and Awards for Indonesian Creators

All submissions will go through an initial selection process conducted in Indonesia by The Japan Foundation, Jakarta. From this selection, three best works will be chosen to represent Indonesia in the main competition. Digicon6 ASIA in Japan.

Participants whose works are selected as finalists at the Asian level will be invited to Japan for the awards night. At this final stage, works from all participating countries will be judged by a panel of judges who have extensive experience in the film and animation industry.

The award categories are divided into two levels:

Local Level (Indonesia):

  • Gold Award
  • Best Art
  • Best Story

Meanwhile, Asian awards include ASIA Grand Prize and other categories that will be announced at the summit.
