Good news for all gamers, especially Nintendo fan gamers, the launch date of Nintendo Switch 2 was officially announced at the event Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 - 4.2.2025 on Nintendo of America's youtube channel.
Nintendo Switch 2 will launch on June 5, 2025 with two different variants, the console-only variant and the Mario Kart World bundle variant. The Nintendo Switch 2 comes with superior performance, a 1.6x larger screen and a variety of the latest features that are very interesting compared to the previous version of the Nintendo Switch.
What's new from Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo Switch 2 comes with a performance that is far superior to the previous version, Switch 2 is also powered by a custom chip from Nvidia which unfortunately there is no further confirmation of which chip is used. However, its strength can be confirmed because it can run heavy games that previously did not occur when we discussed games on the Nintendo Switch.

With the power of the latest chip, Nintendo installed the Nintendo Switch 2 with a Full HD clear screen, a maximum of 120fps, using Variable refresh rate (VRR) technology that smooths the frame preventing frame skip and flicker, not forgetting to support High dynamic range (HDR) which makes the contrast between dark and light clearer. But it should be noted that frame rate, VRR and HDR support depends on the software used.
- Tabletop Mode is a mode that is suitable for gamers who are traveling but want to play games in multiplayer. The main body of the Nintendo Switch 2 is now supported with a stand that can be positioned up to 150 degrees which provides a more comfortable position for the eyes to see. In addition, Nintendo Switch 2 has two usb-c ports located at the bottom and top, making it easier to charge when played in this mode.
- TV Mode is a mode that provides the best performance of the Nintendo Switch 2 by attaching it to the dock. When in the dock Switch 2 can provide resolutions up to 4k, of course it also supports HDR, VRR, and 120 fps. The striking difference from Joycon 2 is the method of attaching the Joycon to the tablet which uses strong magnets instead of rails like the previous version, the use of magnets makes it easier for gamers to attach the Joycon to the tablet because it snaps automatically. It may seem that the magnet is easy to come off, but don't worry, Joycon 2 will remain firmly attached due to the quality of the magnet used. If it comes off a little, the magnet will pull the Joycon back because of its strong magnetic power.
The way to remove the Joycon is to press the lever button under ZL and ZR while pulling left or right according to the Joycon you want to remove.
The larger size of the Nintendo Switch 2 means that the Joycon 2 has some ergonomic improvements, including a larger joystick, longer L and R buttons, and larger SL and SR buttons for easier co-op gaming.
The new controller mode, mouse mode, can be used as the latest input method for games on the Nintendo Switch. Not just one joycon can be used as a mouse, but both as each joycon is equipped with an optical sensor. As a new mode, Nintendo will release Drag x Drive as the first game to fully utilize this mode.
There is a new button, the "C" button, which is used to access the latest features of the Nintendo Switch 2. GameChatthe feature that provides native group chat capabilities for up to 12 people while playing games using the mic is now present on the Nintendo Switch 2.
In addition to group chat, this feature also provides the ability to multiple screens while playing with up to 4 people sharing at a time. By purchasing the camera sold separately, you can also make video calls, as a note, the GameChat feature can be enjoyed for free until March 31, 2026 after which it requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership to access it.
