Story Mission Mancala

Mission Mancala is set in an antique shop. In this game, you take on the role of the seventh detective from the Astral Control Authority.

Your case is connected to an ancient Mancala board and a mysterious game with an uncertain cycle. The story moves through questions of what exactly happened, and who or what caused the game.

The world setting also mentions the Astral Control Authority as a private organization that deals with astral and supernatural phenomena. These details form the basis for the main character's position and the mysteries encountered during the game.

Mission Mancala Gameplay

Mission Mancala is built as a roguelike deckbuilding game inspired by Mancala. The main focus is on the board, cards, and decisions that change with each run.

On the board, you use your hand to spread the marble clockwise to the hole and base hole. From this system, the game progresses to point collection, resource management, and ever-changing builds.

The game's Mancala board is also constantly evolving. Players need to convert risk into points and money, then build card synergies to survive the increasingly complex game cycle.

Each session also presents different conditions. The variety of targets, buffs, bosses, and encounters makes Mission Mancala demand strategy adaptation from one run to the next.

Mission Mancala brings a few key systems that form the basis of the game.

The following features are currently mentioned:

  • Mancala Board: The core mechanic of congklak with marble, hole, and base hole. Players use the hand to strategically spread the marble clockwise to gain control of the board.
  • Pusaka & Pamungkas Card: Power-up cards that help players score points, generate gold, and manipulate items and the course of the game according to the strategy used.
  • Randomized Challenge & Buff: Each game features different route buffs, point targets, and boss variations. Because of this, each session demands new strategy adaptations.
  • Shop System: Players collect Patra as currency to purchase various support items that can strengthen their build and chances of victory.
  • Archive Document System: Players collect hidden documents throughout the game through certain means, such as finding evidence and extracting items, to get clues that slowly reveal the mystery behind the Mancala board.

Mission Mancala Demo

Mission Mancala Demo is already available on Steam for PC. This version is divided into two main modes, namely Campaign Mode and Endless Mode.

Campaign Mode serves as an introduction to the story as well as a tutorial. Endless Mode is the main focus of the demo available now.

Through this demo, players can already see the basic form of Mission Mancala, from the card system, marble variations, board interaction, branching encounters, to upgrade paths. The story beyond the opening section has not been fully unlocked in the demo.

The content already available for the demo version includes 35 Heritage Cards, 15 Ultimate Cards, 5 different marble types, and 3 hole variations.

Mission Mancala is developed and published by HOOP Studio. This game belongs to the Strategy, Deck-Building, Roguelike and Board Game genres. The currently announced platform is PC, created with Unity, and supports Single Player.
