Valve has finally confirmed the price and release date of the latest Steam Controller. Quoted from IGN, The device will launch globally on May 4, 2026 at 10 a.m. Pacific time, with a main price of 99 US dollars. This information is of interest to the PC gaming community as the controller is part of Valve's new hardware ecosystem which also includes Steam Machine and Steam Frame.
The latest Steam Controller comes at a time when interest in SteamOS-based gaming devices continues to rise. After the Steam Deck received a wide response from PC players, Valve is now trying to expand the gaming experience to other devices. Even so, the Steam Machine still has no official release date and price.
Steam Controller Price in Some Regions
Valve set the Steam Controller price at 99 US dollars for the United States market. Other regional prices have also been announced, which are 149 Canadian dollars, 99 euros, 85 pounds, 149 Australian dollars, and 449 Polish zlotys.
According to Valve, price differences between regions occur due to distribution costs, import tariffs, taxes, and local market conditions. The Steam Controller will be available through Steam in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, European Union, and Australia.
Some Asian regions are also on the official distribution list. Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan will get the Steam Controller through authorized distributor Komodo Station. There is no official information regarding the availability of this device in Indonesia or other Southeast Asian regions.

Key Features of the New Steam Controller
The latest Steam Controller brings several features designed for PC players. It has a new generation magnetic thumbstick with TMR technology, full-sized controls, trackpad, grip buttons, as well as Grip Sense-based gyro.
Valve also includes a small puck-shaped device. This accessory serves as a wireless transmitter for a fast and stable connection. In addition, the puck is also a magnetic charging station for the controller.
The Steam Controller battery is claimed to be able to support more than 35 hours of gameplay. The combination of trackpad, gyro, and grip buttons makes this device different from standard console controllers, especially for PC games that require more flexible input.
Steam Machine Still Waiting for Schedule
Valve has yet to announce the price and release date of the Steam Machine. The device was previously introduced as a mid-range gaming PC with a cube-shaped design and the SteamOS operating system.
Valve's Pierre-Loup Griffais said that the company is still working to prepare the launch of the device. He said that development is going well, but no schedule details can be shared yet.
Steam Machine delays are said to be related to logistics and component supply factors. RAM scarcity affected by high demand from the AI sector is also one of the reasons that have affected the launch schedule.

Valve's Strategy for the SteamOS Ecosystem
The launch of the Steam Controller first shows that Valve doesn't want to wait for the Steam Machine to be fully ready. This controller is designed to be used independently by PC players.
The main targets for this device are likely to be Steam users on PC, Steam Deck owners who play in docked mode, and players who want a controller with more diverse inputs. When Steam Machine is finally released, the Steam Controller will also be an important part of the SteamOS-based gaming experience.
This move shows Valve's direction in expanding the Steam hardware ecosystem. The Steam Deck acts as a handheld device, the Steam Controller becomes the primary input device, while the Steam Machine is set up as a PC gaming option for the living room.
The price of the Steam Machine will be an important factor. If Valve is able to offer a device with competitive performance and price, the Steam Machine could be an interesting alternative for players who want a simpler PC gaming experience.
