TOHO animation has released a promotional video for anime SPY x FAMILY Season 3. The trailer gives an insight into the upcoming arc that will focus on the Loid Forger character's past.
SPY x FAMILY Season 3 New Promotional Video Reveals Loid's Past Arc
A 41-second promotional video has been launched to showcase footage of the Loid Forger: Past Arcwhich will be part of Season 3 of SPY x FAMILY. This arc is scheduled to begin airing on October 11.
Season 3 itself premiered on October 4. Viewers can watch the new episodes through streaming services Crunchyroll, which broadcasts it globally outside of the Asian region, alongside the Japanese broadcast schedule.
Behind-the-Scenes Changes for Season 3
Project SPY x FAMILY Season 3 continues to be produced by Wit Studio and CloverWorks. However, there are some changes to the core staff. The director position is now held by Yukiko Imai, who was previously the episode director. She replaces Kazuhiro Furuhashi and Takahiro Harada from season two.
New names joining the production team include Yuki Takeuchi and Tomomi Sugimoto in charge of art settings, Keita Watanabe as CG director, and Rina Koguchi as editor. Most of the staff and cast from the previous season are also returning for this project.
New Theme Song for Season 3
Season 3 of SPY x FAMILY will feature new opening and closing theme songs. The opening theme song is performed by the band Spitz with the title "Hi o Mamoru" (Protect the Light).
Meanwhile, the closing theme song was performed by Lilas Ikuta under the title "Actor".
About SPY x FAMILY
The SPY x FAMILY franchise is adapted from the original manga by Tatsuya Endo. It tells the story of a "Twilight" spy who must form a fake family to carry out a mission. The manga is published in English by Viz Media and is also available on Shueisha's MANGA Plus service. Viz Media added the manga to the Shonen Jump app in September 2019.
The anime adaptation began with the first part of Season 1 which premiered in Spring 2022, followed by the second part in Fall 2022. Season 2 then aired in Fall 2023.
In addition to the TV series, the movie SPY x FAMILY Code: White was released in Japan in December 2023. The movie with an original story topped the Japanese box office and debuted at number #5 at the US box office when it was released in North America in April 2024. The franchise has also been adapted into a stage musical in Japan.
