After a long wait, Kyoto Animation has finally released the first trailer for their latest anime project, City the Animation. This trailer was introduced at the AnimeJapan 2025 stage.
In the announcement, Kyoto Animation also revealed the list of new voice actors, the main production staff, as well as the premiere date scheduled for July 6, 2025. The anime is an adaptation of the manga CITY by Keiichi Arawi, who was previously known through Nichijou.
Stories with an unusual rhythm
City the Animation is about the daily lives of residents in a town that is described as being unlike any other. Kyoto Animation stated that the story will feature laughter, love, and emotional moments, presented in an ordinary life full of surprises.
Through an official description that mentions "an unpredictable ordinary life," this anime is expected to present a series of unpredictable events. However, all events remain rooted in the dynamics of everyday life. The characters will be at the center of various events that come in succession, ranging from touching moments to hilarious ones.

Background of the adapted work
This anime is adapted from the manga CITY by Keiichi Arawi. He was previously widely known through the manga Nichijou. Arawi has an absurd storytelling style, with surprising visual elements and unpredictable character interactions.
Manga CITY was first published in Morning owned by Kodansha in September 2016 and ends in February 2021. A total of 13 volumes have been released. Kodansha USA (formerly Vertical) published the entire series in English. The manga is also available in digital format through the K MANGA service. In December 2024, the manga CITY back in the magazine Morning.
