Anime Summer 2025 brings a lineup of drama anime that focuses on emotional conflicts, relationships between characters, and challenging life dynamics. Here are six titles airing this season with a variety of settings and themes.
6. With Vengeance, Sincerely, Your Broken Saintess
With Vengeance, Sincerely, Your Broken Saintess (Kizu darake Seijo yori Houfuku wo Komete) follows the story of Lua, an aspiring saintess with the ability to heal others by transferring wounds to her own body. Because of this power, Lua is often bullied and nicknamed the "Fallen Saintess," though she always has the support of her best friend, Arianne.
When Commander Garrett was nearly killed by a wild animal attack, Lua saved him and nearly lost her own life. Upon regaining consciousness, she learned that all the credit went to Arianne. This was a turning point that set her on a new path as a villainess.
5. 9-nine- Ruler's Crown
9-nine- Ruler's Crown (9-nine- Ruler's Crown) is set in the town of Shiromitsugawa, where a sacred shrine relic is destroyed and gives rise to supernatural powers in a number of teenagers. Behind the seemingly ordinary town lies a mystery surrounding the emergence of Artifacts-objects with extraordinary powers that affect their users.
The anime's story stays true to the themes of the original game, focusing on elements of romance and murder mystery. The protagonist gets involved in a series of supernatural events and tries to uncover the culprit behind the incidents that shake up their daily lives.
4. Watari-kun's ****** Is about to Collapse
Watari-kun's ****** Is about to Collapse (Watari-kun no xx ga Houkai Sunzen) The story follows Naoto, a high school student who lives with his sister after losing both parents. The nickname "sister complex" is attached to her because of her protective attitude towards her sister.
When Satsuki, his childhood friend-turned-enemy, returns to his life, Naoto must confront an old, unresolved conflict. Their relationship triggers major changes in his life.
3. Let's Go Karaoke!
Let's Go Karaoke! (Karaoke Iko!) tells the story of Satomi Oka, a junior high school student who is suddenly asked by a yakuza member named Kyouji Narita to train her to sing. The goal is to win a karaoke contest to avoid punishment in the form of a painful tattoo that will be drawn directly by their boss.
Satomi, who is used to choir practice, now has to face a vocal session that is very different from what she is used to. Their interactions create a new dynamic not found in the school rehearsal environment.
2. The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity
The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity (Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku) is set in two schools of different social status: Chidori High and Kikyo Girls' High. Rintaro from Chidori meets Kaoruko, a Kikyo student, at her family's cake shop.
Their relationship begins to build, but things get complicated when Rintaro realizes Kaoruko is from an elite school. Unknowingly, they are caught in the tension between two very different school environments.
1. Hotel Inhumans
Hotel Inhumans (Hotel Inhumans) takes place in an exclusive hotel that caters only to professional killers. Ikuo and Sara work as concierges who must fulfill all the extreme requests from the guests.
From providing weapons, fake identities, and services to dispose of corpses, they can't refuse a single request. This anime depicts how they survive in a harsh system, while maintaining a professional role in a world full of dangers.
