Calame was officially announced by Nextale Games, a single-player isometric tactical RPG that combines classic strategy with an innovative mechanic called “Correction”. Quoted from Gematsu, the game is coming to PC via Steam on 2026, followed by the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series at 2027. The demo is available on Steam now.
Story: Rebellion Against the King of Light
Calame is set in the world of Westalia, where “renown” is not just a story-it's a weapon that can physically alter the battlefield. When belief in a legend is strong enough, it can reshape battles or destroy those who use it.
The player leads a rebellion consisting of two factions with opposing ideologies: Kenmare who fought for the freedom of the people, and Panthers who wants to reclaim the throne. The two are united only by the need to survive, while their visions of the future are very different.

Mechanical Correction: Change the Battlefield in Real-Time
The most innovative feature in Calame is mechanical Correction, Legend is a resource that allows players to physically change the terrain of the battlefield in the midst of battle. By using “Legend” resources, you can clear paths, tear down bridges, light braziers, or cut off the path of enemy reinforcements.
This makes the environment a dynamic tactical weapon rather than just a static backdrop. Combined with the classic grid-based combat system that emphasizes unit position, facing direction, and class synergy, Calame offers a depth of strategy rarely found in this genre.
Progress System and Narration Options
Calame featuring a roster of up to 15 characters Customizable characters, each with signature weapons, exclusive skills, unique Overdrive abilities, and archetype evolution. The rich RPG system includes leveling, skill unlocking, and legendary gear collection.
What makes Calame different is a reactive choice system that has real impact. The decisions you make in camp and during narrative events directly alter the rebellion's political alignment, unlocking permanent passive traits that change squad playstyle, inter-faction relationships, and evolving storylines.

Demo Available on Steam
Prior to the full release, Nextale Games has made the demo available Calame at Steam which can be played now. This demo comes just in time for Steam Next Fest: June 2026 Edition, It gives players a chance to experience the Correction mechanic and tactical system first-hand.
Calame inspired by the novel by Paul Beorn published by Bragelonne, adds a solid depth of lore as the foundation of the story. For fans of tactical RPGs like Fire Emblem or Tactics Ogre, Calame seems to be one title worth keeping an eye on.
