Now you can catch 151 Kanto Pokemon directly from Google search on your smartphone. This mini-game is free, easy to play, and perfect for those who are nostalgic or new to the world of Pokemon from the first generation.
How to Play Pokemon Mini Game on Google
This mini-game first appeared after the official Pokemon on X/Twitter shares a tweet which invites users to search for "Pikachu" via smartphone. When you search, nothing special seems to happen. But wait a few seconds and slide a little bit down, you will see the Poké Ball in the bottom right corner of the screen.

If you tap If you click on the icon, an animation of a Poké Ball being thrown at the screen will appear, and then Pikachu will appear automatically. The catching process is interactive and simple, as if you were playing the classic Pokemon game.
There are 151 Pokémon to Catch
What makes this mini game interesting is that it's not just Pikachu that you can find. Google has embedded the entire contents of the first generation Pokédex, which is 151 Pokemon ranging from Bulbasaur to Mew.

You can search for the Pokemon name in English, and the mini game will immediately appear in the search results. The Japanese version of the name is also recognized, but not required.
After catching one Pokemon, the system will save your progress. The silhouette of the captured Pokemon will be filled in automatically, allowing you to view your collection. If you log into your Google account, this progress will be saved and can be accessed again in your next browsing session, even if you change devices.
Two Ways to Play
This mini-game can be played with two approaches. If you think you've memorized the names of the first generation Pokemon, you can simply type them from memory and see how far you can get in your collection without help.
On the other hand, if you want to play while you relax, every time you catch one Pokemon, you can ask for hint. This feature will give you quick facts and silhouettes of the next undiscovered Pokemon. This is similar to the "Who's That Pokemon?" segment that used to appear in the anime.
No Deadline, Play While You Can
As of now, there is no official information from Google or The Pokemon Company regarding how long this mini game will be available. However, since the number of Pokemon that can be caught reaches 151, it is likely that this event will be available for the next few weeks.
With the growth in the number of Pokemon now far exceeding that of the Kanto generation, it is hoped that the next generation will also get a similar treatment in mini games like this in the future.
If you're ready to test your memory, or just want to have some fun searching for your favorite Pokemon, now is the perfect time. Open Google, search for the names of Kanto Pokemon, and start your digital adventure right from your smartphone search!
