Fans Made in Abyss got the latest news regarding the continuation of the series. The previously announced sequel is now confirmed to be coming in the format of a theatrical film series, with a first part Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi (Made in Abyss: Awakening Mystery) which is scheduled to air in 2026.
Kadokawa released a visual, and announced the return of the voice cast and staff along with the release of Volume 14 of the manga.
Made in Abyss Movie Officially Announced
Kadokawa confirmed that Made in Abyss will continue through the format of a theatrical film series instead of a TV series. The first movie will be a direct continuation of anime TV 2022 Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun.
The visual teaser released features two new characters, Tepaste and Cravagli. Studio Kinema Citrus is again handling the production, ensuring the continuity of animation quality that has been present in previous seasons. This information was part of the official announcement made alongside the launch of the latest volume of the manga.

Concert 2026
In addition to movie production, Made in Abyss Film Concert: Deep Echoes of Resonance will be held on February 8, 2026 at Nakano ZERO Grand Hall, Tokyo. Kevin Penkin will lead a live orchestra performing music from the anime, with footage shown on a large screen. Performances by Ko Saito and KIHOW (MYTH & ROID) will round out the event, along with the main voice cast including Miyu Tomita, Mariya Ise, and Shiori Izawa.

Made in Abyss is a manga by Akihito Tsukushi that was serialized on Takeshobo's Web Comic Gamma. To date, the manga has over 22 million copies in circulation. The story follows the journey of Riko, an orphan girl, and Reg, a human-shaped robot, as they explore the Abyss-a giant pit and cave system that holds ancient relics and is inhabited by mysterious creatures.
Anime adaptation Made in Abyss first aired in July 2017 with 13 episodes in season 1. The series then got two compilation movies in January 2019, followed by a movie Dawn of the Deep Soul in January 2020, and season 2 The Golden City of the Scorching Sun in July 2022.
With the confirmation of a movie series that will start in 2026, Made in Abyss adds to the long list of adaptations that have been released since its debut, presenting a continuation of the story that is consistent with the original work.
