MSI Handheld Console Game

MSI has just released a teaser video about its first handheld gaming console on its official Instagram account. In the video, MSI claims that "a whole new breed of MSI dragon is coming". What should you anticipate about this? Here are the points:
- Their latest video shows the placement of two joysticks, vents, and the MSI logo on the back of MSI's latest device, indicating that they will be launching a Handheld Console.
- More details about this handheld PC will be shared at the January 2024 CES event.
- There are no detailed specifications about the MSI Handheld Console yet, but it is certain that the Handheld Console uses an Intel processor.
- The position of the joystick looks similar to the Asus ROG Ally, which adopts the asymmetrical placement of Microsoft's Xbox controller. In the video, the joystick can be seen surrounded by RGB lights.
For MSI, entering the handheld gaming PC market is a new step, despite the company's long history of producing gaming laptops. Expansion into new markets is no stranger to MSI, which has also recently ventured into the high-end SSD and router markets.
Entering the world of handheld gaming will put MSI in line with many of its competitors, who have launched their own handheld PCs.

We can expect MSI's upcoming handheld to run Windows 11, which has been customized by Microsoft to be more suitable for handheld PCs.
However, considering that Windows 11 is not yet fully compatible with controllers such as Handheld Console, so it looks like that hope will be dashed, as another solution then they will implement a homemade controller system.
Intel's Response to MSI Handheld Console

Furthermore, Intel responded to MSI's teaser posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) with three thinking face emojis, indicating that perhaps Intel's Meteor Lake chipset will be the brains of this handheld.
Intel secured a deal with one of the biggest brands in PC gaming to form factor This will be a big step forward and will end AMD's years-long monopoly on handheld gaming PCs.
However, some reviewer who have tested it say that Meteor Lake is less efficient at lower power limits, so it might be a problem for handheld gaming PCs that tend to operate at lower power.
Other Brand Game Console Handhelds

Windows-based gaming handhelds from other major OEMs opt for AMD's Ryzen Z1 Extreme chip, which is the APU used in the Asus ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go. The Z1 Extreme is based on AMD's Phoenix chip, and is almost identical to the Ryzen 7 7840U.
The fastest gaming handhelds currently use the Z1 Extreme or 7840U, both of which are faster than the Van Gogh APU found in the Steam Deck.
Some other brands are also starting to switch to AMD's Hawk Point 8040 series of APUs, although this isn't too different from using Phoenix-based chips. Hawk Point only offers higher speeds on its NPU, which won't affect gaming performance much.

Despite this, GPD switched to the Ryzen 7 8840U, allegedly because it is easy to swap with the 7840U. However, if MSI wants to use the latest Hawk Point-based version of the Z1 Extreme, it is unclear whether the chip will be released or not, considering that the Z1 Extreme has a disabled NPU.
It's not clear from this video how MSI will deliver its exciting offering, other than the use of Intel chips. So, we'll have to wait until CES 2024 to find out more details.
