Backstory: Attack on Oboro Village
ENE Corp, a paramilitary organization that invaded global territories in record time, now faces the only major threat: The Oboro Clan. Led by Joe Musashi, the clan is a prime target. Ruse, the mastermind behind ENE Corp, launches a full-scale attack on Oboro Village. Musashi and his allies must survive and stop ENE's expansion ambitions before it's too late.
Main Characters
Besides Joe Musashi as the main character that you can control, SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance also introduces a number of important characters that support the story. Each character comes with a background that contributes to the game's narrative dynamics.
- Joe Musashi: The protagonist and leader of the Oboro Clan who is known to be quiet yet highly trusted by his clan.
- Ruse: The leader of ENE Corp who leads with ruthless strategy and iron fist. He launched an attack on Oboro Village because he saw the clan as a major threat.
- Yamato: Musashi's companion dog that can enlarge to assist in battle or carry Musashi on its back.
- Tomoe: A young member of Oboro who learned directly from Joe Musashi, and dreams of becoming a ninja strong enough to protect his clan from harm.
- Naoko: Joe Musashi's gentle and wise wife. She does not hesitate to give her husband important advice and support when needed.
The First Two Stages
This game introduces two main stages:
- Oboro Village: The training area in the dojo and bamboo forest that Musashi traveled through with his students. While training, they discover the village has been attacked by enemy ninja.
- The Chase: A bonus stage where Musashi chases after Ruse who escaped with a giant creature. On Yamato's back, you'll have to dodge fire, kunai, and various other obstacles during the chase.
Release Details and Language Support
SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance is scheduled for release on August 29, 2025 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Physical versions are only available for Switch and PS5, while other platforms are released in digital format.
The game supports subtitles in Japanese, English, Korean, as well as Traditional and Simplified Chinese. The hand-illustrated visual approach and stage-based gameplay are the main attractions.
