FuRyu officially announced CRYMELIGHT, the latest roguelike action RPG game from the line of CRY Series. Quoted from Gematsu, The game is scheduled to release on November 5, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and PC via Steam. The announcement article from Gematsu mentions that CRYMELIGHT will feature a playtime of around 20 to 30 hours, with the story bringing back themes of darkness, sin, regret, and emotional growth.

The game follows the story of Alice, a girl with no memory who wakes up in Wonderland. The place is no ordinary fantasy world, but a prison for the souls of the dead. Alice is told that only those who can defeat the Queen can gain freedom. Together with Mary, she must participate in a death game while finding a way back to her world.

Dark Tales in Wonderland

CRYMELIGHT taking inspiration from Alice in Wonderland, Wonderland, but reworked it into a more somber tale. Wonderland is depicted as a place for souls trapped after death. Alice must move from Tea Party Hall to the deepest layers of Purgatory in pursuit of Rebirth.

Along the way, Alice meets several other characters such as Mary, Cheshire, Mad, March, and the White Rabbit. Each character seems to have a secret, trauma, or sin related to their past. This theme is in line with the identity of CRY series, which previously came through CRYSTAR and CRYMACHINA.

The story focuses not only on combat, but also on how the characters deal with guilt and regret. This concept makes room for a fairly strong emotional narrative, though the roguelike format remains an important part of the experience.

Roguelike Gameplay with Card System

As a roguelike action game, CRYMELIGHT uses a repetition-based game structure. Alice would enter Wonderland, face enemies, collect upgrades, and then return to the Tea Party Hall if defeated. Even so, some progress can still be maintained through upgrading weapons and accessories.

One of the main systems introduced is the Poker System. Players collect five Skill Cards to form poker hand-like combinations. Stronger combinations will produce greater effects in battle. This system makes card selection an important part of strategy.

There is also the Wonder Dimension, a blue-purple area that appears after an enemy is defeated. This area can strengthen Alice's abilities and speed up the action on the battlefield. The effect can change depending on the skill selected, so gameplay can potentially feel different on each run.

Tea Party becomes the center of preparation

The Tea Party Hall serves as a place to rest and prepare before Alice descends back into Wonderland. It is also a space for interaction between characters. Conversations at the Tea Party can unlock details about the girls' past, including stories of defeated enemies.

The Repentance System is another part that is closely related to the theme of the story. Alice can confess the sins she carries from the battle, then turn them into materials for power-ups. This system connects character development narratively and gameplay-wise.

Players can also choose between World-Immersion Mode and Action Mode. World-Immersion Mode reduces the UI view and brings the camera closer for a more atmospheric experience. Action Mode gives the camera more distance with a clearer UI view for combat.

Platform Releases and Information

CRYMELIGHT will be available for PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and PC via Steam on November 5, 2026. FuRyu is also preparing physical versions for Japan and Asia. The game is scheduled to attend several events before release, including Tokyo Game Dungeon 12 and BitSummit PUNCH in Kyoto.

Through a combination of a dark story, anime-style characters, roguelike gameplay, and a card system, CRYMELIGHT seems to be trying to give a new direction to CRY Series. For players who follow CRYSTAR or CRYMACHINA, This game could be an interesting continuation of the world of tears, sin, and the search for meaning after death.
