ATLUS has officially announced that Metaphor: ReFantazio It will be available for the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 12, 2026. The physical version of this ATLUS RPG will be released via a game key card. In Western regions, the SteelBook Edition will also be available for a limited time at launch.
Metaphor: ReFantazio was previously released on October 11, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. The release of the Switch 2 version gives more players the opportunity to enjoy this fantasy RPG on Nintendo’s latest platform.
A Fantasy RPG from the Persona Creative Team
Metaphor: ReFantazio Developed by the creators behind Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5, this game takes players to a unique fantasy world, with a story centered on the protagonist and his companion fairy, Gallica.
Throughout the game, players are tasked with lifting the curse from the kingdom’s missing prince. The game’s story also unfolds in a mysterious world, where the people must confront their own fears amid a major conflict involving the Royal Tournament.
Archetype System and Gameplay
One of the key elements of Metaphor: ReFantazio is the Archetype, a magical power that lies dormant within a character’s heart. By awakening the Archetype, players can use and combine abilities from various unique job classes.
This system gives players the freedom to build their party and adapt their playstyle throughout their adventure. Players can also strengthen their bonds with other characters to face stronger enemies and uncover the truth behind the kingdom.
Metaphor: ReFantazio combines exploration, time management, and strategic combat. During the day, players can undertake quests, enter dungeons, and hunt for treasure. At night, players can strengthen relationships, build bonds, and improve their virtues.
The game also features a gauntlet runner—a vehicle used to explore dungeons and distant cities across a vast world. The journey is enhanced by fantasy scenery, music, an immersive interface, and anime-style cutscenes.
In terms of its combat system, Metaphor: ReFantazio combines turn-based and real-time action elements. This combination is designed to bring both strategy and intensity to every battle.
Physical Edition and SteelBook Edition
The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Metaphor: ReFantazio will be available in a physical edition using a game key card. In the West, ATLUS is also offering a SteelBook Edition that will be available for a limited time only at launch.
ATLUS has also released a new trailer for the Switch 2 version. The official website for the Switch 2 version is now available in several languages: English, Asian English, and Japanese.
