CRYMELIGHT featuring the “Introduction” trailer, which provides a clearer picture of the game ahead of its launch. Previously announced for PS5, Switch 2, and PC, this latest title from FuRyu now showcases its main story, roguelike action gameplay structure, and several key features that will shape the gameplay experience.
This latest trailer offers a clearer look at how the game combines dark fantasy, character-driven drama, and combat built around progression in each run.
The CRYMELIGHT Story Centers on Alice and Wonderland
At CRYMELIGHT, players follow the story of Alice, a young girl who wakes up with no memory of her past. She is then given a name by the White Rabbit and taken to the Tea Party Hall, where she begins to understand the rules of the world she finds herself in.
Wonderland is described as a prison for the souls of the dead. There, only those who defeat the Queen can gain their freedom. Therefore, Alice decides to join the game alongside a mysterious girl named Mary, with the goal of returning to her own world.
This story-driven game revolves around the themes of sin, regret, and emotional growth. As Alice comes into contact with her companions’ sins, she gains insight into the painful pasts they have endured. From there, Alice’s journey involves not only battles but also the process of confronting emotional wounds and the secrets hidden within that world. The story also sheds light on why the Queen created this world and what awaits the winner at the end of the game.
CRYMELIGHT's Gameplay Features a Roguelike Action Structure
CRYMELIGHT It uses a roguelike action structure. Players will descend into Wonderland, face the Queen’s enemies, collect skills and resources, and then return to the Tea Party Hall when the run ends.
One of the main systems showcased is Wonder Dimension. When enemies are defeated, their final cries create a blue-purple area on the battlefield. This area enhances the player’s abilities and increases the pace of the action. The larger the area expands, the greater the boost players can feel as the battle progresses.
The Wonder Dimension effect can also vary depending on the skills chosen. This means that a player’s build will influence their combat style, not just their attack power.
This game also uses the Poker System as the basis for building your deck during a run. Players collect five skill cards to form combinations similar to poker hands. Stronger hands produce more powerful effects, so card selection is a crucial part of the strategy.
In addition, there is the Repentance System, which links combat to character progression. Alice takes on the sins of the souls she defeats, then transforms them into power-up items. Materials from this system can be used to upgrade weapons and accessories, so players still feel a sense of progress even when they have to replay sections.
Key Systems That Have Been Introduced
In addition to the story and battle structure, the latest information on CRYMELIGHT It also provides an overview of several systems that shape the gameplay. These systems not only support combat but also allow for character interactions and preparations outside of battle.
Some of the key points include:
- Wonderland and the Tea Party
Players will move between Wonderland, the battle area, and the Tea Party, the safe zone. At the Tea Party, Alice can talk to other characters, confess the sins she has accumulated during combat, and then receive enhancement items and power-ups. - Wonder Dimension in Battle
This system is at the heart of the battle's rhythm. As the blue-purple area expands, Alice's abilities increase and the battle speeds up. - Skill Cards with a Poker-Style Build
Players collect skill cards between stages and build a hand of five cards. The composition of this hand will affect Alice’s attacks and movements during the run. - Two Mode Options
Players can choose between World-Immersion Mode and Action Mode. World-Immersion Mode minimizes the user interface, highlights the visuals, and uses a closer camera angle. Meanwhile, Action Mode uses a top-down perspective, retains key UI elements, and focuses more on combat clarity. - Progress After a Loss
When Alice loses, she returns to the Tea Party Hall to prepare for her next run. Although the skill cards she carries may be lost, some progress can still be retained through the upgrade system.
